CARE & MATERIALS

CARE

To care for your C.W. James jewellery please avoid contact with water, perfume, creams and lotions. Do not swim while wearing your C.W. James jewellery and avoid wearing while cleaning, gardening, participating in physical activity or going to bed.

To clean your C.W. James jewellery, gently rub with a dry untreated soft cloth to remove oil from skin and/or makeup. Avoid using polish or abrasive jewellery cleaners as these contain harsh chemicals and can discolour and damage your jewellery over time.

Please store your C.W. James jewellery piece individually, in its pouch, away from heat and direct sunlight.

MATERIALS

C.W. James jewellery is hand-crafted from quality metals, pearls and gems. Each piece is meticulously made in Anglesea with care and intention. We use 14k gold-filled components that offer a high-quality finish and lasting beauty. Please note that each pearl and semi-precious stone naturally varies in size, shape and detail. That is the beauty of working with natural materials – each C.W. James piece is unique to you.

14k Gold-Filled Components

C.W. James jewellery features exceptionally high-quality 14k gold-filled components consisting of a thick layer of 14-karat gold mechanically bonded to a brass core using heat and pressure. This bonding process creates a durable and long-lasting piece of jewellery that can withstand everyday wear and tear. Using 14K gold-filled components ensures our jewellery is more resistant to tarnishing, chipping and fading. It is also hypoallergenic, making it suitable for sensitive skin.

Pearls

Freshwater pearls are grown in lakes and rivers. Due to their organic shape and luminous beauty, pearls are often associated with the moon, and are believed to have a soothing and calming effect on the wearer. We love to work with their charmingly irregular forms and natural colours.

Mother of Pearl

Mother of pearl is the iridescent inner lining of pearl oysters, mussels and abalone. Used in jewellery for centuries, our custom zodiac and letter pendants utilise the distinctive qualities of this natural material.

Semi-precious Stones

C.W. James jewellery features a carefully chosen selection of crystals and semi-precious gemstones, each with their own unique properties and metaphysical meaning. In their purest form, gemstones bring a natural clarity. Beyond their aesthetic beauty, we love the meditative experience of handcrafting C.W. James jewellery with semi-precious stones.

Amethyst

Amethyst is crystalline quartz renowned for promoting serenity, balance and peace. Its name derives from the ancient Greek word amethystos, meaning ‘intoxicate’, and it was believed to prevent drunkenness! The birthstone for February, we love amethyst’s pale lilac hue and how it makes us feel calm.

 Rose quartz

Selected for its delicate pink hue, rose quartz exudes a feminine energy. We love the way it warms the skin. We also love that it is known as the love stone; rose quartz is said to amplify all forms of love, and to open one’s heart to empathy and compassion.

Amazonite

We love working with amazonite because its subtle shades of teal remind us of shimmering tropical oceans. Associated with the zodiac sign of Virgo, amazonite is said to dispel anxiety, neutralise negative thoughts and bring good luck.

Aquamarine

We imagine its delicate blue green hue is what inspired aquamarine to be named after the Latin words for seawater aqua marina. In ancient folklore this beryl gemstone was known as mermaids’ treasures and is often associated with the zodiac sign of Pisces. Today, aquamarine is said to bring rejuvenation and renewal.

Sunstone

Just like sunshine, the sunstone’s bright, positive energy is believed to promote optimism and cleanse negativity. Sunstones contain tiny crystal and copper inclusions which reflect light and create a sparkling sheen in golds to browns.

Pink Opal

Pink Opals are cherished for their soothing energy and calming influence. Australia is the prime location for the creation of opals, and we particularly love how the soft pink, slightly pearly lustre of this stone helps illuminate the skin.
